From The Head of School – October 4, 2023
October 4, 2023
Flint Hill Community,
I was thrilled to see so many of our community members out to our many Homecoming events this past weekend. If you made it out for one event, or stayed through them all, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to be a part of this special community.
After the pep rally on Friday afternoon, a senior — who has been here since Junior Kindergarten — approached me to share that this has been his best Homecoming yet. I saw him throughout the weekend chatting with friends, saying hello to alumni, and truly embodying that “driving spirit” that makes Flint Hill special. After the games on Saturday, as he was leaving campus to prepare for the Upper School Homecoming Dance, I thanked him for “bringing it” and representing our school’s core values all weekend.
Flint Hill is truly at its best when we’re together, as a community of unique and diverse individuals, bringing our student, parent, faculty, staff, and alumni communities together as one. An event like this cannot happen without a ton of great work, both seen and unseen. From our facilities and security teams, to the athletic department, advancement teams, and hordes of student and parent volunteers – so many people put in the work to make this an unforgettable Homecoming weekend. Seeing our student athletes compete, watching our Upper School clubs engage with younger students in Spirit Alley, connecting with alumni from near and far, and watching our Upper School Dance Team perform alongside 60+ Lower Schoolers were just a few of the many highlights of our community on display.
I hope that your family was able to enjoy the weekend, as well. If you came out, connected with old friends or made new ones, thank you for making time to be with your Husky community!
Sincerely,
Patrick McHonett
