ANNOUNCEMENTS

Happy Summer! We completed the school year on May 30 and were excited to host our annual Commencement ceremony last Friday for the Class of 2024! The end of the school year is always bittersweet because we say goodbye to our amazing graduates. Head of School Patrick McHonett shared his gratitude for the end of the school year with the community a couple of weeks ago.

A LETTER FROM THE PARENTS' ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT

Dear Flint Hill Families,

It has been my honor to serve as president of the Flint Hill School Parents' Association for this past year, and I am grateful for the privilege.

One of the many great aspects of our school is maintaining continuity while also making each year better. With that in mind, please join me in thanking and welcoming incoming Parents’ Association President Rejera Arnold for stepping into this role. Rejera has already made an impact in the Flint Hill community, where she has:

Served as a Lower School Divisional Ambassador for the past two years and even signed up during her first year.

Served as a Flint Hill Fund volunteer this year.

Served as an active volunteer and helped at many school events such as Homecoming, Teacher Appreciation Week, Night on the Hill, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and more!

Rejera, you are going to do a wonderful job, and we wish you well!

Flint Hill's Core Values have resonated with me since the moment our family first explored this school, and the values are something we see lived every day with each of you. The first three — Respect and Value All Equally; Lead and Support with Compassion; and Act with Integrity — I think of as the minimum standards we expect of ourselves and give to others. They are our essential principled foundation, and while they may be a floor, they are a high floor. The remaining two, though, are where the magic really happens — when we Imagine What's Possible and Blaze the Trail. It is thanks to all of you — for bringing that energizing spirit to the school and to each other — that we create this special environment in which the students — our dear kids! — learn and grow.

Though my time as Parents’ Association President is ending, I’m excited to continue to serve as a divisional ambassador next year, along with my wife, Jennifer, and many of you. In fact, the Divisional Ambassador program has grown to over 90 volunteers heading into next year, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the level of interest and what it will mean for the school.

To parents, faculty, staff, and everyone who dedicates time, energy, and talent in support of strengthening our Flint Hill community, Thank You! I look forward to continuing to pull the sled with all of you.

TEXTBOOKS & SUPPLIES — ONLINE BOOKSTORE OPENS JULY 17

Looking ahead, the Flint Hill Online Bookstore will open on Wednesday, July 17. Free shipping will be available through July 31. We’ll remind you as it gets closer! Families are responsible for the purchase of all required textbooks/workbooks. The student schedules will confirm the courses students are enrolled in for the 2024-25 school year. You will use the courses listed on the student schedules when ordering textbooks.

Below are school supplies requested by division:

Lower School

Lower School supplies are furnished by the School and are included in tuition. It is recommended that all Lower School students bring reusable water bottles that are no more than nine inches tall to school every day.

Students in Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten are asked to purchase a backpack without wheels that is 16 inches high x 13 wide x 7 1/4 deep. Students in Junior Kindergarten should also have a small blanket for rest time (maximum size 40 x 40).

Middle School

Middle School students are responsible for the following school supplies:

Reusable water bottle
Earbuds/headphones
At least two 1” binders for math and science
Lined paper and graph paper for binders
At least 10 binder dividers
Pencils and erasers
Blue or black pen
Highlighters in any color
Box of colored pencils
Small Post-it Notes or small tabs for marking novels/texts
TI 84 Graphing Calculator — available for purchase in the Flint Hill online bookstore or elsewhere

Upper School

SUMMER LEARNING AND SUMMER READING

You can now find links for summer learning and reading recommendations on the Husky Hub Resource Board.

UPPER SCHOOL FALL ATHLETICS RESOURCES

All Upper School Fall Preseason information can be found on the Athletics tile of the Resource Board in Husky Hub. Tryout dates and times are all posted for the fall. Summer workout information will be emailed to all roster members by the coach directly. If you have any questions regarding a particular sport, please contact the head coach and Director of Athletics Dewayne Robinson.

HUSKY TO-DO LIST

✅ FILL OUT: REQUIRED BACK-TO-SCHOOL FORMS — DUE FRIDAY, JUNE 14

These online forms are required for student attendance at orientation, registration, classes, and for participation in all school-sponsored activities such as Athletics and Field Studies. The deadline to submit the forms is Friday, June 14.

The forms can be found in Husky Hub. After you log in, a yellow block will appear on the top part of the page with a message detailing the number of forms pending review. After clicking the link, you will be guided to the list of forms for your child/ren. If you receive an error message while completing your forms, or have questions, please contact Enrollment Services Manager Sarah Burnett.

✅ COMPLETE: REQUIRED STUDENT HEALTH FORMS

The Magnus Health system provides a convenient way for all required health forms to be entered electronically and allows for continuous access to your child’s health record throughout the year. The forms are required for student attendance at orientation, registration, classes, and for participation in all school-sponsored activities such as athletics and Field Studies.

Student Health Forms are now accessible through the Student Health Forms tile of the Resource Board. There is also a link on each checklist of the Preparing for the 2024-25 School Year tile. The deadline to submit health forms is Thursday, August 1.

✅ SAVE THE DATE FOR AUGUST SOCIALS

Middle School — Tuesday, August 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Upper School — Wednesday, August 21, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Lower School — Friday, August 23, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

✅ OPTIONAL: FLINT HILL CARPOOL NETWORK

To assist families who have an interest in forming a new carpool or adding to an existing one, we will launch the carpool availability feature in the Student Directory in July. This resource may be especially helpful to new families who are not served by one of our existing bus routes.
