    ‘HUSKY-ISMS’

As you’ve likely realized, Flint Hill has a strong culture. From day one at Flint Hill, students learn our core values and quickly become steeped in our culture of character and ethos of teamwork. There are several terms that are unique to our culture and you’ve probably already heard some if you’ve attended an event. As we play for the long game together, you’ll be hearing more of the Husky-isms below!

Our Core Values — When a school is united by commonly held core values, we come together as a community that acts with integrity, mutual respect and compassion, and support for one another. Flint Hill’s core values are steeped in our cultural ethos. They are taught to the earlier grades and reinforced throughout our students’ education. These values are the measure of all we do and inspire us to be our best selves each and every day.

    Our core values are:

    • Respect and value all equally
    • Lead and support with compassion
    • Act with integrity
    • Imagine what’s possible
    • Blaze the trail

Pulling the Sled — When Flint Hill students understand what it means to be a Husky, they understand the benefits of teamwork in the most profound and practical ways. Did you know that there is no lead dog on a sled dog team? All the dogs are trained for each position, so any dog can take the role that is needed at that moment. Sled dogs work together to make sure the team crosses that finish line or meets their goal.

The Driving Spirit — This is the passion and purpose we bring to everything we do at Flint Hill.

Igloo/the Den — These are our snack bars, which are open after school and during sporting/community events. They are often staffed by parent volunteers, so it is a great way to get to know other Husky parents.

Klondike — Our beloved mascot. At Flint Hill, school spirit is not just about athletics — it’s everywhere and so is Klondike!

WELCOME OUR NEW DIRECTOR OF FINE ARTS

Over the course of the winter, Flint Hill has engaged in a broad search for our next Director of Fine Arts, an all-school leadership position that focuses holistically on our fine arts program — including musical, visual, and performing arts. We are excited to share that Joshua McClymont has recently accepted our offer to serve as the next Director of Fine Arts at Flint Hill, beginning July 1.

Joshua is currently the Director of Fine Arts at Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette, LA, where he oversees all aspects of their PK-12 fine arts program, including visual arts, music, and theater programs. During his time at Ascension, he has guided fine arts faculty members, expanded experiential opportunities for students on- and off-campus, and co-chaired the development of the Media Literacy Lab for students and faculty. Prior to Ascension, he was the Director of Fine Arts at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta, overseeing all aspects of the program, as well as teaching and directing its theater productions. In addition to roles in education, Joshua has served as a director of local children’s theaters, a board member of community theater groups, and as an engaged volunteer with his communities. He holds a B.F.A. in Theater Performance from Miami University of Ohio, and an M.S. in Education – School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
