    APRIL 17, 2024

We know an important part of starting at a new school is making connections. This New Husky Update is all about building new relationships as you blaze your trail at Flint Hill. We are excited to offer additional opportunities for your family to connect with other members of the Husky community in the coming weeks.

Note: The next edition of New Husky Updates will arrive a bit off-schedule — on Thursday, May 2 — due to New Parent Night on May 1.

    UPCOMING ATHLETIC EVENTS

Everyone is invited to come together to cheer our Huskies on to victory this spring. Check out our individual team schedules and come on out!

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION — YOUR INVITATION TO VOLUNTEER

All Flint Hill parents and guardians are automatically members of the Parents’ Association (PA). There are no dues. The Flint Hill PA exists to foster relationships within the parent community. We have a large group of Divisional Ambassadors who volunteer to help parents meet each other, encourage attendance and participation in school events, and support the School’s mission, vision, and values. Whether you have a few hours once a year or can be on campus every day, there’s a place for everyone.

Learn more about serving as a Divisional Ambassador. New parents are welcome to serve your first year. To sign up, complete this brief form by Monday, May 13. Visit the Philanthropy and Parent Engagement table at New Parent Night to learn more about how to get involved!

INVITATION TO KALEIDOSCOPE BOOK CLUB: MONDAY, MAY 6, 8:30-9:30 A.M.

As part of our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, we invite all parents, faculty, and staff to participate in our monthly Kaleidoscope Book Club. If you haven’t read the book, that’s OK! You can always join just to engage in the discussion that is taking place. We will meet to discuss “The Sun Is Also a Star” by Nicola Yoon. Our book club provides a safe and engaging space for parents to read, discuss, and reflect on thought-provoking narratives that have been deemed too controversial. We've curated a diverse selection of banned books from various genres and eras that have sparked debates and provoked change. RSVP here for the meeting. If you have any questions, please email All-School Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator Miles Henderson.

    HELLO HUSKY TEAM OUTREACH

Current families are excited to meet new Huskies! A current family who has enthusiastically volunteered to be on our Hello Husky Team will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks to connect.

    REMINDERS

    NEW PARENT NIGHT — WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 6:30 P.M.

We look forward to seeing you at our New Parent Night on May 1 at 6:30 p.m. Our administrators and parents will share what you can expect next as well as some helpful resources for your transition. If you haven’t registered for the event yet, please do so by April 26.

Lower School students (rising JK-6) are required by the state to provide Proof of Identification before starting school. We will be accepting these during the last session at New Parent Night. Please bring the proof along with you and we can check off this step!

Parents must provide an original birth certificate. If one is not available, a passport or an affidavit with substantiating documentation is acceptable. The legal name of the student as provided in official documentation will be entered into the student’s Flint Hill record. Any changes to an original birth certificate must be supported by a court document.

In May, we will also share a sign-up for a virtual appointment option to show proof of identification virtually for families that don’t complete this step at New Parent Night.
