BAND
Our band program begins in the Lower School, welcoming budding musicians in 4th and 5th grade. In these early years, students are introduced to the fundamentals of rhythm, melody, and improvisation. As they progress through the grades, students refine their skills under the guidance of seasoned instructors. The program emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and musical expression, and provides a supportive and inspiring environment for students to pursue their passion for music.
CHOIR
Our choir program offers a rich and diverse experience for JK-12 students interested in vocal music. Students receive personalized instruction to develop their technical and musical skills and have multiple performances throughout the year. The program emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and musical expression, and provides a supportive and inspiring environment for students to pursue their passion for music.
THEATER
Our comprehensive theater arts program provides students with a range of opportunities to explore the world of theater. The program includes classes in improvisation and advanced acting techniques. Opportunities also exist for students to explore directing and stagecraft. Each year, Flint Hill stages multiple after-school plays and musicals for students in grades 5-12, with opportunities for onstage and offstage roles. Through the theater arts program, students gain valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and collaboration, which will benefit them in any future career path.
STUDIO ARTS
Our studio art program serves students in every grade from K-12 and provides a diverse range of coursework, such as drawing, painting, 2-D animation, and digital media. Students work in large studios, equipped with specialized tools and equipment, and receive personalized guidance from experienced faculty members. The program also emphasizes art history and critical analysis to help students understand the cultural and social context of their work. Through hands-on experience and collaboration with peers, students build a portfolio of artwork that reflects their unique style and creativity.
CERAMICS
Our ceramics program is a unique opportunity for students to explore the art of pottery and sculpture. Students learn to work with clay, from hand-building techniques to throwing on the wheel, and develop their skills in glazing and firing. The program provides a spacious studio with professional-grade tools and equipment, as well as guidance and instruction from experienced faculty members. Students are encouraged to express their creativity and experiment with various forms and techniques, and their work is displayed in exhibitions and competitions. Through the ceramics program, students develop a love for the art form and gain valuable skills in problem-solving and visual communication.
DIGITAL ARTS
Our digital arts program is an innovative and exciting program for students interested in exploring the world of digital media. Coursework includes graphic design, animation, digital photography, and video production. Students have access to state-of-the-art equipment and software in a specialized digital studio, and are guided by experienced faculty members. The digital arts program provides a dynamic and stimulating environment that prepares students for success in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
